What is a V-Day Campaign?
A V-Day Campaign is a catalyst for mobilizing women and men to heighten awareness about violence against women and girls.  By creating this global community, V-Day strives to empower women to find their collective voice, and to demand an end to the violence that affects one in three women in the U.S and around the world.

What is our Goal?
To establish an everlasting fund with Clearfield County Charitable Foundation for our beneficiaries:  Community Action Crossroads Project and Passages. Also, our goal is to raise awareness to stop violence against women and girls. Our five year plans includes a home for immediate shelter and counseling in Clearfield.

"Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving . . . it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction."   —Variety

What are The Vagina Monologues?
Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues, which was first performed off-Broadway by Ms. Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.  Ms. Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world - from Zagreb to Santa Barbara, from London to Seattle, from Jerusalem to Oklahoma City.  Villard Books/Random House first published The Vagina Monologues, which includes a foreword by Gloria Steinem, in February 1998.

What is V Day?
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

Performance is just the beginning. V-Day stages large-scale benefits (See our
Complimentary Events below)
and produces innovative gatherings, films and campaigns to educate and change social attitudes towards violence against women including the documentary Until the Violence Stops. In 2008, V-Day celebrated its 10-year anniversary at V TO THE TENTH at the New Orleans Arena and Louisiana Superdome. V TO THE TENTH featured two days of speakers, art, performance for all and makeovers, massage, medical testing and healing circles, and yoga for the women of the Gulf South Region. The event was attended by over 30,000 women and men and reached millions of people all over the word, raising over $700,000 for local efforts in New Orleans to end violence against women and girls.

The V-Day movement is growing at a rapid pace throughout the world, in 130 countries. V-Day, a non-profit corporation, distributes funds to grassroots, national and international organizations that work to stop violence against women and girls. In 2001, V-Day was named one of Worth Magazine's "100 Best Charities" and in 2006 one of Marie Claire Magazine’s Top Ten Charities.

In eleven years, the V-Day movement has raised over $70 million.

Complimenting Events for Fundraising and Education we are planning:

The Clothes Line Project distributes clothes baskets to local businesses women’s restrooms. We will be decorating the bathrooms with testimonials and V-Day 2010 information. Women will be asked to write brief testimonials on T shirts, Pillow Cases, Sheets, or Jeans (ONLY) and to leave a donation. Clothes lines with the donated items will be prominently displayed in town one week prior to The Vagina Monologues performance.  http://www.clotheslineproject.org/

Taking Back the Night!!!!  Meet at midnight after each performance. Women will gather with candles to share three testimonials from three local women. The candle lighting trilogy will wrap up with a saunter through town. Donations will be taken for the candles.  http://www.takebackthenight.org/  This is:

A WAKE Forum (Women Advocating for Knowledge and Empowerment) We may also invite our beneficiaries and other groups to this discussion. This is a great way to facilitate a rotating forum, in which small groups get to hear from and join in a discussion with every speaker for 15-20 minutes before coming together into a large group to reflect on the conversations and presentations. Our midnight candle vigil through the local streets in our red clothing will be the presentations.

Red Shirt Campaign We will be inviting everyone who has been affected or knows someone who has been affected by violence against women to wear red on V-Day (Our Performance Dates). Team members may have special T-Shirts to sell.

$100 Ticket Sales- Deb Grieve, member of the Cultural Resources, Inc. will be organizing people to sell $100 raffle tickets. Each $100 ticket is a chance to win $2,500.  We will have 2 big prizes for 2nd and 3rd place ticket holders

Valentine's Day V-Gift will be asking local flower shops to offer customer donations of one dollar for every order and delivery on Valentine's Day

Any and all donations, businesses and volunteers are welcome to join us in our cause to stop violence against women and girls in Clearfield County!!
