Scream Of My Blood: A Gogol Bordello Story

About The Film

Scream of My Blood tells the story of the immigrant punk folk band Gogol Bordello and features its charismatic Ukrainian-born frontman, Eugene Hütz. Spanning the 1986 Chernobyl accident and the final days of the Soviet Ukraine all the way to pre-9/11 New York and ending with the Euromaidan, Russia’s war in the Donbas, and its 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the film gives more than just an intimate access to the band and the history of its formation. It is very much an immigrant story, Hütz’s story of searching for his place in a strange country, the US, while remaining intimately connected to his birthplace, Ukraine. Fascinating, triumphant, personable, and well-told story. The archival footage and its seamless integration into the overall story merit special recognition.

From Oct. 30 – Nov. 5, 2023, The Centre Film Festival will return for a weekend of the finest offerings in contemporary cinema at the State Theatre in State College and the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg.

We are back to celebrate the magic of storytelling on the big screen and beyond.
