First Friday Silent Film Series Shorts

The State Theatre is happy to welcome back The Silent Film Series. We will be presenting both feature length and short silent films. If names like Buster Keaton, Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Gloria Swanson, Rudolph Valentino and many others stir something in your soul or even just makes you curious, you will not want to miss The State Theatre’s Silent Film Series. For a brief moment of time, silent films united the world, made us laugh and cry, and set in motion what became one of the greatest media influences in world history. Please join us in celebrating the pioneers that made these films an enduring legacy.

Every First Friday, The State Theatre is proud to present our First Friday Silent Film Series, a free presentation of 2 hours of silent short films.  Each silent short film series will be dedicated to a specific theme, performer, or director. Experience the beauty and wonder that is the silent film era.  It might be Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, or one of many others.  You may even find a new favorite director or film!

In 1923 a man with glasses hung precariously from a clock face high above the city streets below. Thus was born the most iconic image of the silent film era. That man was Harold Lloyd. Born in Nebraska in 1893, Harold went on to become one of the greatest icons of silent film. Ranked with Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd’s every man character continues to give us thrills, chills, and laughs.

This day’s short films will be:

Number Please
Bumping Into Broadway
Never Weaken
Ask Father
High and Dizzy
