Kinsey Sicks

Kinsey Sicks

For over 25 years, America’s Favorite Dragapella® Beautyshop Quartet has served up a feast of music and comedy to audiences throughout the US and internationally! Their phenomenal performance record includes an Off-Broadway show, an extended run in Vegas, two feature films and three concert DVDs, ten albums, and appearances in Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. The Kinsey Sicks’ award-winning a cappella singing, sharp political satire, and over-the-top drag have earned them a diverse and devoted following.

So who are The Kinsey Sicks?

Angel is the identical twin sister of Kinsey Sicks foundress and Dragapella® emeritus Rachel. People constantly say that they can’t tell the two apart, although their miniscule size difference (Angel is a mere 11 inches taller than her twin) does provide a clue to discerning observers. Angel’s alter ego is J.B. McLendon, is the newest Kinsey gal. J.B. earned a degree in musical theatre at Syracuse University an in the ensuing years as performed across the United States and Europe in addition to directing, stage managing, and writing plays.

Winnie had conventional parents. In fact, they attended conventions all the time. It was at an Amway Convention that they abandoned her. Luckily she was come upon and taken in by a band of radical lesbian Tupperware ladies who raised her as one of their own pups. Winnie closely resembles Nathan Marken. Nathan is based in San Francisco, where he’s performed in a wide variety of musical theatre and operatic productions. Nathan holds a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is a graduate of the Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music.

Not much is known about Trixie’s early life, and frankly she prefers it that way. Although she has enjoyed a multifaceted career as a gorgeous Caucasian-American, a really gorgeous African-American, and a somewhat unbelievably gorgeous Asian-American, Trixie has never allowed the complexity and depth of her character or her racial reassignment surgery come between her and her many admirers. Jeff Manabat, aka Trixie, joined The Kinseys in 2004, and currently serves as musical director, writes the four-part vocal arrangements, and with the help of many talented designers, is irresponsible for the group’s costume design. He has an impressive list of performance credits on stage and screen. He’s an alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley.

Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee and hitting every rock on the way down, Trampolina fell into show business by accident. When she’s not touring with The Kinsey Sicks and carrying all nine pieces of Trixie’s luggage, Trampolina spends most of her days in a trailer park outside of Belton, Missouri waiting for Maury Povich to call her and tell her she IS the mother of a bastard child she conceived one spring break in Cancun. Kansas City-based Spencer Brown joined the group as Trampolina in 2008. An alumnus of New York’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy, he can be found donning a blonde wig as Daisy Buckët (pronounced, of course, ‘bouquet’). Daisy was honored as the Kansas City’s Best Drag Artist in 2021.
