The Lost World
The State Theatre is proud to present the Silent Film Series feature presentations. Many of Silent Films from over a century ago are exceptionally well preserved, showing a quality beyond what many people think. Our staff works diligently to find the best quality feature length silent films for your consideration. Classic Silent Films, such as The Cameraman, Nosferatu, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari have continued to entertain and inspire generations of new filmmakers and audiences.
In 1912, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel The Lost World took us to a world long forgotten by nature, filled with giant beasts and ancient jungle plateaus. This September, join us at The State Theatre for the first film adaption of this adventure. Premiering in 1925, The Lost World treated audiences to dinosaurs and a prehistoric world brought to life by special effects pioneer Willis O’Brien. The film stars Bessie Love, Wallace Beery, Lloyd Hughes, and Lewis Stone. You will not want to miss this iconic, fantastic silent film.
