Lighting Designer (LD)

The House LD will develop lighting designs for all shows and facility infrastructure and be responsible for maintaining and resetting the house plot. The LD will be the accountable leader, head designer and subject matter expert reporting to and following the lead of the Production Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and execute Lighting Design projects.
  • Direct advance with touring LD when needed.
  • Transpose tour lighting plots in Vectorworks for live events. 
  • Assist touring LD in integrating the tour show/equipment into house rig. 
  • Meet with, asses and implement the lighting needs of local show producers.
  • Assess, plan and implement maintenance and upgrades to lighting infrastructure.
  • Oversee all lighting inventory, generate lists and maintain a real time inventory list and plot. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized and positive work and tech environment. 
  • Help with in/out set up and strike of all shows and national acts.
  • Promotes safe working and operation practices during set up, hang and focus.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of all electrics.
  • Promote company wide standards and efficiencies.
  • Performs tasks as assigned by the Production Manager
  • Provide additional support to other back-of-house operations. 
Required Experience:

A minimum of three years event based professional production and lighting lighting experience with a strong working knowledge of all aspects of lighting design and equipment.

Preferred Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a professional experience as an LD with strong lighting design skills and a strong working knowledge with demonstrated ability on the ETC ion. The candidate will have a working knowledge and ability to design in Vectorworks.

Position Type:

In general must be available as schedule requires. Must have the availability to work a flexible schedule including some shows over 8 hours, evenings, and weekends when dictated by live events.

This position is performed in both an office environment with administrative duties and in an event/technical environment. The candidate must be able to consistently lift 50-75 lbs. when unloading and loading and also be comfortable working on a ladder and lift as needed.
