Production Assistant

The Production Assistant will work closely with the Production Manager and assist with all technical and administrative responsibilities of the Production department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in managing event production for all programing at The State Theatre.
  • Assist in supervising all tech staff.
  • Correspond with tour managers advancing the touring artist’s production requirements.
  • Define and coordinate production requirements with producers, artists and rental clients.
  • Work along side and schedule tech staff for all events.
  • Assess, plan and implement maintenance and upgrades to technical infrastructure.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and positive work and tech environment.
Required Experience:
  • A minimum of two years related musical, or stage production experience with staff supervision.
  • A strong audio, or stage lighting background with a demonstrated ability.
Preferred Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a lighting background or professional experience as an LD with strong lighting design skills and a strong working knowledge with demonstrated ability on the ETC ion. The candidate will have a working knowledge and ability to design in Vectorworks.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all aspects of technical production with experience in lighting, or audio.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production needs.
  • Ability to remain calm in the high stress environment of a live performance.
  • Ability to understand and implement technical riders with detail and precision.
  • Highly motivated with strong problem solving skills.
  • Artist centric with a focus on the needs of the performer.
  • Excellent planning skills and organized.
Position Type:

During a non event schedule this position is currently a part time position at approx. 20 hours a week with potential for full time. In general, the candidate must be available as schedule requires and must have the availability to work a flexible schedule including some events over 8 hours, evenings, and weekends when dictated by the live events.

This position is performed in both an office environment with administrative duties and in an event/technical environment. The candidate must be able to consistently lift 50-75 lbs. when unloading and loading and also be comfortable working on a ladder as needed.
