For the students of Ridgemont High, the school year is a series of firsts. For Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh), it’s a desperate rush to gain the adult experience she thinks she’s supposed to have, only to find it’s nothing like she imagined. For the shy Mark “Rat” Ratner, it’s about surviving a first date, while for the eternally stoned Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn), it’s a constant battle of wills against his history teacher.

From the food court at the mall to the front seat of a beat-up car, their stories weave together into a pitch-perfect snapshot of teenage life.
