"It's one of those ageless movies, like "Casablanca" or "The Third Man," that improves with age. Some movies, even good ones, should only be seen once. When we know how they turn out, they've surrendered their mystery and appeal. Other movies can be viewed an indefinite number of times. Like great music, they improve with familiarity. It's a Wonderful Life falls in the second category."

George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) has so many problems that he is thinking about ending it all—and it’s Christmas! As the angels discuss what to do about George, we see his life in flashback. George is about to jump from a bridge, but ends up rescuing another man who is actually his guardian angel, Clarence. Clarence then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all of the good he did over the years. Will Clarence be able to convince George to return to his family?

It’s a Wonderful Life is a Christmas supernatural drama film directed and produced by Frank Capra. The film is based on the 1943 short story and booklet “The Greatest Gift” by Philip Van Doren Stern, which was loosely based on Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.
