The Silent Film Series

Nosferatu

The State Theatre celebrates the 100th anniversary of Nosferatu.  It has been a century since director F. W. Murnau brought actor Max Shrek to the screen as the unforgettable and menacing Count Orlak, but the years can not erase the chilling terror of the actor’s performance. Please join us at The State Theatre if you dare for one of the finest horror films ever made.

What does Bram Stoker’s vampire tale look like through a German expressionistic filter? It looks like the camp and creep classic, Nosferatu.

Starring Max Schreck. Director F.W. Murnau and Max Schreck collaborated to create one of the most memorable vampires in cinematic history. Schreck’s own features and comportment lent themselves to playing odd characters onstage and in films, but none were as odd as Count Orlok in Nosferatu.
