Location
Two flat rowhouse rooftops, next door to each other in suburban Ohio. A disillusioned, crusty 62-year-old man on one, and, on the other, an optimistic, tireless 9-year-old schoolgirl. Each of them sits on a house full of secrets.
Bernard just wants to enjoy his adult beverage (and perhaps kill a few sparrows), but Rory next door has different plans for him. With only four chance encounters to connect, these unlikely new friends unearth what’s buried in each other and find new ground.
Warning: this play includes tap dancing, pumpkin throwing, and air-hugging. [No, you don’t need to tap dance for this reading!]
Simple? Yes.
Cheesy? Slightly.
But a charming kind of cheesiness…
