Marketing and Event Promotion Associate

About The State Theatre:

The State Theatre is a vibrant hub for live music and film in Centre County. For nearly 20 years, we’ve presented national touring acts, international headliners, local performances, and a mix of mainstream, independent, classic, and international films, making The State Theatre a destination for live music and a true revival and repertory house for cinema.

Position Overview & Summary:

We are expanding our marketing team with this new role, which will work alongside the current Marketing Associate to plan and execute campaigns for all live music and film events. This position will help increase visibility, drive ticket sales, and grow audiences. Candidates should have experience in event promotion or venue marketing and be highly organized, creative, and collaborative.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is deeply connected to the music scene and understands the culture and energy that make live performance meaningful. They are well-rounded and highly skilled in graphic design, social media marketing, photography, and film editing, and can translate creative ideas into effective audience engagement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to create new marketing processes, strategies, and implementation timelines
  • Collaborate with the Development Director to support fundraising, community outreach, and membership initiatives
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns across social, web, print, radio, and in-person channels
  • Create promotions and coordinate materials for national touring artists and local productions
  • Track and analyze marketing metrics to optimize regional audience growth
  • Support operational execution of events, including day-of-show coordination and onsite promotions
  • Oversee marketing budgets and reporting for grant spending
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies and timelines
Preferred & Abilities:
  • Experience in live music marketing or event promotion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on expertise in graphic design, social media marketing, and photography
  • Skills in film editing and campaign strategy
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • 35 hours/week, possibility of full-time
