On May 10th – 11th, The State Theatre will be participating in Centre Gives, a 36-hour online giving event for non-profits making a difference in Centre County. The State Theatre is a nonprofit performing arts center committed to using our passion for performance, creativity, and inclusivity to support our community through the performing arts.
Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10th and ending at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11th, anyone can give a gift to the State Theatre through Centre Gives at this secure link. You can also call Centre Gives directly to donate at (814) 237-6229.
We believe in the magic of music and the performing arts. Like you, we believe there is an opportunity to seed and grow a culture of music and performing arts in our area and reach greater heights.
As you may know, last year we began a campaign to Reimagine The Attic. Thanks to your support, the first phase—constructing an egress door in the attic to street level—is underway and moving forward.
We have engaged an architect who has drafted the proposed improvements shown. These improvements will allow our capacity to grow from 49 guests to well over 100. Also included as a second phase is a roof deck overlooking College Avenue. We are VERY excited about this possibility! Cosmetic and design upgrades will be included.
We envision a more flexible space to experience up-close, personal performances like never before. It will expand our ability to see local and national artists, enjoy lectures and workshops, educational programs, literary readings, and community gatherings beyond what we have ever been able to offer.
Please donate to The State Theatre during Centre Gives. Every cent earned from 2023 Centre Gives will be put towards the future of the Attic.
With further progress we can create a unique, up close and personal experience with a heightened focus on connection, unique to the State College area.

Centre Gives is a unique opportunity for non-profit organizations in Centre County to get the most out of their fundraising efforts. At the end of the 36-hour event, Centre Foundation grants organizations a percentage of the $300,000 stretch pool. So, for each donation we receive, we can get a larger percentage of the stretch pool funds.
All donations, small or large, are important to our future success, and Centre Gives provides you a way to make your contribution even more meaningful. Throughout the event, Centre Gives hosts smaller challenges for participating organizations where additional prizes will be awarded.
